For sale, a fairly elusive “Spanish pattern” worn by artillerymen of the British Army during the Napoleonic wars. This pattern was introduced during the Peninsular war, hence the name, and was carried until 1826.
This example has had a full life. The leather on the grip is gone, but the hilt is in fair shape, with a nail that was inserted in it. The blade has seen some repair to the edge and is now quite blunt. The rest is in rather very good shape, and the signature of the maker, Hebbert and Hume, is very crisp. The company was active from 1814 to 1829.
Spanish patterns do not often come up for sale, so this is an opportunity to get a good specimen at a good price.
