This is a very rare example of the popular 1845 infantry officer sabre. The blade looks like a fairly typical product of Klingenthal, and was service sharpened a few times perhaps even to repair a nick near the upper portion.
What really sets it apart is the uncommon combination of a regular officer blade with a superior officer guard. The guard is also different from most superior models for the presence of an extra decoration item near the base of the branch. Such combinations are not unheard of but are very rarely seen.
The whole sword is very solid and tight, except for a slight movement in the grip’s wire.
A very unique example of this great model.
