This model was issued to the Brazilian United States cavalry around 1889. It is Solingen made, marked to Weyersberg Kirschbaum and Co. The blade is the same pipe back type as the one used on the German 1889 pattern cavalry, but fitted with a solid sheet guard stamped to the Brazilian United States.
These swords are uncommon. This one comes without its scabbard, but in good condition, with little pitting.
