This is another very nice example of the emblematic 1860 light cavalry sabre. This particular example has lost its markings to polishing, except for a very stylized “22” on the guard.
The blade is in excellent condition, the guard exhibits a nice original patina, and the whole assembly is very tight and straight. The scabbard is in fine shape, with a few bends and a missing throat (a replacement can be easily obtained) and some surface oxydation.
A nice example of this civil war era sabre.
