This is an extremely rare Romanian Air Force Officer sword from the reign of Ferdinand I and designed along the lines of the British 1920 Royal Air Force sword.
This sword is in pristine condition, with only a few scuff marks to the scabbard’s leather. It exhibits most of the same elements as the British models, with a few exceptions such as Ferdinand’s monograms.
The Romanian Air Force was at the time fairly small, and so very few of these swords can be found. I have actually been unable to find any other sword of this type. Given its period of manufacture, between 1920 and 1927, it is not impossible that this could have been carried by a WW1 veteran.
A truly rare piece in incredible condition.
