SOLD – 1767 French Briquet

The 1767 is the first pattern of the famous briquet sabre which equipped French grenadiers, light infantry soldiers as well as musicians and line infantry sergeants. This pattern was of course used during the French Revolution, but also by French troops serving in the American Revolution.

This example is in very good shape. There are no visible markings left, but the blade is in good shape, as is the hilt which shows a deep patina. The blade is still somewhat sharp. The whole assembly is quite solid with no rattle.

The briquet comes with a repro scabbard. Useful for reenactment or transport.
