SOLD – 1845 French infantry officer sabre – by Coulaux

For sale, a very nice example of the iconic 1845 model for French infantry officers. This model equipped officers from 1845 to 55, but was used by adjudants and sergeant majors until 1916.

The sword is in excellent shape, with some minimal surface pitting in a few places. It was service sharpened, and still bears Coulaux of Klingethal’s signature and inspector mark. It still has it’s original felt washer as well.

The scabbard is in fair condition. The wood liner is missing a small section around the middle, causing it to bend. The seam being opened, it would be fairly easy to replace that missing part to solidify it. It is also missing one ring, but otherwise it is very solid.

A nice piece to add to any collection.
